Manya Afonso
I am a researcher in the Biometris and Vision plus Robotics groups, Wageningen University and Research, The Netherlands.
I have previously been a post-doctoral researcher at the Instituto de Sistemas e Robótica (ISR) at Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon, Portugal. I finished my Ph.D. at Instituto Superior Técnico in January 2011, while being a researcher at the Instituto de Telecomunicações.
My research interests include inverse problems in signal/image processing, convex optimization, statistical inference, machine learning, and computer vision.
Check out the Research section to know more about my work, although a complete and updated list of works can be found at my Google Scholar profile .
Outside of science, my interests include learning history and culture, trekking with special emphasis on the Camino de Santiago (Way of St James), running, photography, and gastronomy. I have a blog where I write my stories from time to time.
