Manya Afonso

I am a researcher in the Biometris group, Wageningen University and Research, The Netherlands.
Until January 2016, I was a post-doctoral researcher funded by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) at the Instituto de Sistemas e Robótica (ISR) at Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon, Portugal. I finished my Ph.D. at Instituto Superior Técnico in January 2011, while being a researcher at the Instituto de Telecomunicações.
My research interests include inverse problems in signal/image processing, convex optimization, statistical inference, machine learning, and computer vision.
A list of my papers can be found in the page titled Research in the navigation bar. I also have links to some software in Matlab. Enjoy!
My Google Scholar profile is here.
My ORCID profile is here.
Outside of science, my interests include learning history and culture, trekking with special emphasis on the Camino de Santiago (Way of St James), running, photography, and gastronomy. I have a blog where I write my stories from time to time.
